INDEPENDENT AND LOCAL BROADCASTERS: HISTORIC MEETING IN VEVEY, SWITZERLAND
Following
an invitation of MITIL, International
Market for Independent & Local Broadcasters, representatives of national
associations of independent European broadcasters met November 25 &
26 in Vevey.
The
Initiators coming from Belgium, Italy, Spain and Switzerland, representing
together some 1500 members, signed a Chart. Its action plan foresees the
founding in February 2001 of FERTIL, Fédération Européenne des Radios et Télévisions
Indépendantes Locales -
European Federation of Independent Local
Broadcasters.
Based on
the same model, another Federation will be established at the same time.
Its purpose is to take care of the specific needs of the international
webcasters.
Immediately
following the creation of these federations a Global Service Organisation, a Consortium,
serving the members of the two federations will be launched.
The
first convention of these new organisms will take place during MITIL, June 20-23 2001 in Vevey,
Switzerland.
