The Only International Market for Independent & Local Broadcasters
June 12 - 15, 2002
Vevey - [Lake Geneva] - Switzerland
The preparations for MITIL 2002, the annual meeting platform created especially for YOU, the "low power - HIGH ENERGY" people of the industry, to allow you to get together with your peers at both European and international level, are well underway.
Thanks also to those of you who took part in the first edition of MITIL last
June, and who, even by their presence alone, contributed to the extremely successful
launching of MITIL, the organisers, still adhering, in the main, to the original
principles of the event, have taken into consideration your comments and suggestions
and made the decision to revise, to a certain extent, the MITIL concept, the
results of which you will be able to see shortly on our new website. This will
be on-line as from January 2002.
But, remember MITIL is also YOUR EVENT - so, we rely on your regular input to
enable us to meet YOUR SPECIFIC NEEDS, wherever you may be.
To remind you of June this year or to show you what you missed:

"It is important that MITIL exists. This event offers a platform to
the players active in local broadcasting who have, at last, their own rendez-vous
which meets their needs.
The MITIL participants appreciated, in particular, the outstanding on-line Videokiosk/Programme
Market"

"Vevey, could it become the key meeting platform for European regional broadcasters ? Following the first edition of MITIL, it is not impossible to believe that this is possible - the MITIL Association has just launched a European "first"
VARIETY, London (18 June, 2001) full HTML page
Speaks of the " bravery and ingenuity that many local broadcasters
exhibit in delivering local updates when the unpleasant realities of war and
disaster strike. Such challenges have resulted in powerful award-winning programmes
seldom seen outside their local markets "...
A challenge also which MITIL has accepted by launching its first International
Market for Local and Independent Broadcasters.

Two main tracks in parallel are foreseen, with conferences/discussion forums and workshops, one track on radio and the other on television.
This will make it easier for participants to make their choice of which session to attend; also, they will be sitting alongside friends, old and new, whose interests and concerns are mutual - the perfect opportunity to discuss, debate and develop one's ideas and solutions.
The 2002 Technical Exhibition will, therefore, be geared to meet the specific needs of local and independent broadcasters who are active in both fields, radio and television.
The MITIL 2002 Programme Market, a resounding success at the first edition
last June, will, again, be a principal feature and offer a wider panorama of
top quality programmes selected in advance by MITIL experts. A call for entries
will be made in January 2002, an opportunity for producers and broadcasters
to make themselves known and benefit from an international exposure, second
to none - a business potential which Only the MITIL Programme Market offers
to locals and independents.
A partnership agreement has been reached between MITIL and the Golden Beggar Festival of Local Television Broadcasters, Kosice, Slovakia, the 7th edition of which took place in October last.
The Kosice Festival is the annual meeting point of all local television broadcasters from Eastern and Central Europe and the C.I.S.
The MITIL/Kosice partnership is based on an agreement to pursue the same objectives,
but with each event maintaining its own identity - the aim is to "bridge
the gap" between East and West, facilitating exchanges and the distribution
of programmes, ideas and solutions between local broadcasters, and allow a more
active participation of visitors each year at both MITIL in June and at Kosice
in October.
This partnership represents a significant step towards the networking of a community
which is becoming ever larger, inventive and creative.
An agreement has been reached with Mangotree Marketing to be MITIL'S UK Sales & Marketing Agency (+44 870 751 22 40).
Nigel Bruce, who has a long experience of the audiovisual industry, will be UK Sales & Marketing Manager for MITIL.
This agreement with Mangotree Marketing will ensure that MITIL is actively promoted throughout the UK, a market rich in local and independent broadcasters: full details will appear on our new website in January 2002.
More later about other partnership agreements presently under discussion...
The MITIL Association is proud to announce that UNESCO - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, has granted its patronage to MITIL 2002, the second edition of MITIL which will take place from June 12 - 15, 2002.
UNESCO, in granting this patronage, believes that MITIL meets several of UNESCO's objectives. For example, MITIL, encouraging, as it does, local and independent radio and television producers and broadcasters, reveals and enhances the concept of cultural pluralism ; in contributing to the international distribution of these productions, MITIL favours the expression of cultural diversity in the audiovisual media.
The support of UNESCO will undoubtedly ensure an international visibility for
MITIL, in particular, in Africa and other areas, such as Latin America and Central
Asia.
Make MITIL 2002 the first entry in your brand-new diary - the event YOU cannot afford to miss.
